Note:Your shot will generally be 75 yards or less.
Do I need to wear orange?
Yes.All hunters must wear an orange hat AND
vest.
The exception would be if
the weekend is a designated
ALL BOWHUNTER weekend,
then camo clothing is allowed.
Should I bring a lunch?
Lunch is not provided.
You can either bring your
own or trip out for excellent
pizza & sandwiches, 5
minutes away.
Can I bring a treestand?
Yes, climbers are
permitted as long as they do not harm the trees.
HOWEVER, we have found
that slow stalking works the best.
Can I bring my ATV?
Yes, with prior approval
and a signed waiver.
We do have ATVs on site
to help get you into the preserve (if you need it)
and to get your trophy
out.
When is the best time to hunt?
Anytime is good, as we
will always have an ample supply of boars
worth shooting. If you wait until Fall/Winter, the boars will have started
putting on their winter coats (which is nice for
mounting), but you run the
risk that the dates are booked or that the
nicest boars may have been taken.
Do you take credit cards?
Yes, we accept Visa &
MasterCard and AMEX.Personal checks are
only accepted for
deposits, as they take 2 weeks for bank processing.
Cash is always welcome.
How much is meat processing?
The standard processing
fee for boar is $105 which includes skinning and
transport to the
butcher. There is a slight extra charge
for seasoned sausage
(but it is highly
recommended! )You will fill out a form
with your choice of
cuts prior to us dropping
the meat off at the butcher. You will be
responsible
for arranging pick
up.Payment is required in advance.
I have never hunted wild boar before.
Are they dangerous?
Yes they are.Wild boars are just that, WILD!However,
they are not blood
thirsty. Most will avoid you, but a few
are downright mean and nasty
and will take offense at you
being in their yard. They might charge at you. If they bite or
“hook” you with their
razor sharp tusks, you will get hurt.
In our safety briefing we
will talk about what to look for, what
to stay away from and what
avoidance techniques you can use
if you have an
encounter. With a little common sense you
should
not have any problems,
and a guide will be with you.
